The Jewelry World Is Changing—And There’s No Going Back

Let’s be honest—big diamonds have always been the ultimate status symbol. I won’t lie, if my husband had ever come home with a five-carat diamond, I would have been over the moon, knowing exactly what it meant. The whiter the stone, the fewer the inclusions—the more valuable, the more rare. I would have worn it proudly, aware of the message it carried. Because for so long, buying a big diamond wasn’t just about beauty—it was about power, wealth, and the ability to spend.
But that world is changing. Lab-grown diamonds are here to stay, and there’s no going back. Today, they are chemically identical to natural diamonds, cost 70-80% less, and are virtually indistinguishable without specialized equipment. Large white diamonds—once the ultimate status marker—are rapidly losing their value. The only diamonds still holding their worth are the truly rare ones: fancy-colored stones like pinks, blues, and greens, or exceptionally pure white diamonds with unique provenance.
Luckily, I was never drawn to big diamonds in my own work.
They felt too formal, and also too easy. As a designer, I expect more—a thought process, a creative touch. The materials surrounding a diamond shouldn’t just hold it; they should enhance it, add character. Imagine a diamond on a plain chain versus one set in horn, framed by a gold bezel, draped on a cord. How cool is that?
I design fine jewelry that isn’t precious in the traditional sense—not formal, but effortless. It’s made for women who embrace an unburdened lifestyle, moving through life with ease and style. Jewelry should be lived in, not locked away.
As the industry shifts, I’ll continue to focus on authenticity and artistry. That’s why ZADEH will always feel different—because what you’re getting isn’t just jewelry, but a little piece of my soul. And unlike a diamond, that’s something you can’t put a price on.
